Rovers Ladies midfielder Natasha Fenton visited her charity sponsor Blackburn Foodbank on #FoodbankFriday.
The charity was chosen to represent the Rovers midfielder as part of the One Love, One Rovers fundraising campaign.
Known as #SponsorTheChampions, it helped to sponsor 17 first-team Ladies players for the 2019-20 season by raising over £4,000 for the team.
And the 20 year-old went down to meet some of the volunteers who help to run the charity.
“It was a really good insight to see the work they do,” Fenton commented.
“It’s definitely been an eye opener for me and has made me want to work alongside the charity to increase fundraising and help those in need.”
Blackburn Foodbank have fed 11,000 people in Blackburn with Darwen over the last 12 months, including 3,500 children.
As well as supplying tinned food, the charity also provides people in need with cooked meals and clothes.
During the autumn months, the Foodbank is at its lowest capacity and fundraising money must be used to buy essential items like milk and bread.
The charity offers a collection service and their website lists items that are currently required, as well as what can be bought from the local supermarket.
A group of the volunteers are running the Blackburn 10k on Sunday 17 November, which starts and ends at Ewood Park, in aid of the charity.
