Volunteer

Volunteers are the life blood of foodbanks. Your skills could be just what we need.

Blackburn Foodbank has a team of over 50 volunteers. They are the driving force behind our operations. We want you to enjoy volunteering and there are lots of ways to get involved. Whatever role you choose, you will make a real difference to the life of someone in crisis.

Here is an example of just some of the roles we have available:

Fresh & Extra’s

Duties include: 
Adding fresh produce and extra items to food parcels before dispatch to guests.

 

Pantry assistant 

Duties include: 
Packing pantry items from guest pick list.

 

Client services assistant 

Duties include: 
Supporting the  Client Services Manager by answering telephone calls, relaying messages and requests for food parcels. 
Ensuring all relevant information is made available to relevant staff efficiently and generating e-voucher information for processing using a computer.

 

Admin assistant

 Duties include: 
Supporting the administration of the foodbank working alongside the administrator, performing a wide range of tasks including filing, photocopying, word processing documents, keeping records up to date, organising stationery etc.
